Mason Dining offers meal plans for students, faculty, and staff tailored to their daily schedules. With a wide selection of food options, Mason Dining accommodates individual lifestyle preferences and restrictions ranging from vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergy-friendly, Kosher, and Halal. Besides the four all-you-care-to-eat dining halls, there are many familiar favorites, including Chipotle, Panera Bread, Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, The Halal Guys, and even a late-night hangout spot for that midnight burger!

Purchase a Meal Plan

Meal plans are available for purchase two weeks prior to each semester and are ready to use immediately. Payments can be made in the student account portal within two to three business days. Information on billing and payment options is available on the Office of Student Accounts website.

Step 1: Select Your Meal Plan

Log in to the Online Mason Card Office with your Mason NetID and select "Buy/Change Your Meal Plan" to start the selection process.

Step 2: Make a Payment

Log in to the Student Account portal to make a payment. Eat now, pay later with interest-free payment plan options.

Accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover Card, e-checks, and Money Orders.

Step 3: Use Your Meal Plan

Tap your mobile device or plastic Mason ID card on the university card reader, it will automatically access your meal swipes or dining dollar account.

Manage Your Meal Plans

You can manage your meal plans on the Online Mason Card Office portal. Please follow the instructions below to add/change/cancel a meal plan. For meal plan requirements and refund terms and conditions, please refer to the Meal Plan Policy.

Add/Change Meal Plans

You can add or upgrade your meal plan anytime during the semester. Visit the Online Mason Card Office to select your meal plan. The amount difference will be billed to your Student Account within 2-3 business days.

Add More Dining Dollars

Additional Dining Dollars can be added anytime during the semester. To add more Dining Dollars, log in to the Online Mason Card Office portal, under "Buy/Change Your Meal Plan," select the Dining Dollar amount: $100, $200, $350, $500.

Unused dining dollars in the fall semester will roll over to the spring. However, the rollover account will only be available for using after the spring dining dollar account is depleted.

Cancel/Downgrade a Meal Plan

Meal plan users can cancel or downgrade their meal plans outlined on the important dates page. Visit the Mason Card Office or email [email protected] for withdrawal request.

On-Campus Residents: If you are studying abroad and have a meal plan that was assigned to you based on where you are living i.e. Independence or Liberty, go to your neighborhood desk and submit an Appeal for Release Form (AAR). This document details everything you must do to cancel your housing for next semester. Once the form is submitted and approved, email [email protected] to drop the plan.

On-Campus Residents: Submit your housing withdrawal request via the Housing Portal online. Once the housing has been dropped, email [email protected] to cancel your meal plan.

Off-Campus Students: Complete your withdrawal request. Once the request has been approved, email [email protected] to cancel your meal plan.

Students living in residence halls without full kitchens in the suite must have an Independence or Liberty meal plan per the Mason Housing License Agreement every student signs prior to living on campus. Freshmen and Sophomores must have the Independence meal plan. Junior and above may choose between an Independence and Liberty meal plan.

Students living in residence halls with full kitchens are not required to have a meal plan but can choose one of the following options: Independence, Liberty, Dining Dollars, and Patriot. The only residence halls with full kitchens are Rogers, Northern Neck, Potomac Heights, Liberty, and The Townhouses.

  • Log on to the Online Mason Card Office with your Mason NetID.
  • Click “Buy/Change Your Meal Plan” on the navigation menu and follow the prompts to complete the meal plan selection.

Once completed, the meal plan will be activated immediately during the semester.

If your card is lost or stolen, choose one of the following methods to deactivate your Mason ID to prevent any unauthorized usage of Mason Money and meal plans:

  • Log into the Online Mason Card Office and select “Lost/Stolen Card.”
  • Contact the Mason Card Office at (703) 993-1004. If after business hours, leave a voice mail requesting that your Mason ID be deactivated, clearly stating your name, G Number, and contact information.

For a replacement Mason ID, visit the Mason Card Office on the Fairfax Campus, SciTech Campus, or Mason Square during business hours. There is a $25 fee for a card replacement.

During Business Hours: Visit the Mason Card Office for a replacement card. There is a $25 fee due at the office.

After Hours: Please contact a dining manager to coordinate access to dining halls, as meal plans cannot be accessed without the Mason ID.

Please allow two to three business days for the meal plan charge to be added to the Student Account. Payment options include credit cards, e-checks, and money orders (payable to George Mason University). Visit Student Account for more information on balance, billing, and payment.

Tip: Payment plans are available with up to 5 installments. A setup fee applies when signing up for split payments.

Note: Mason Money is not accepted for purchasing a meal plan.

  • Log on to the Online Mason Card Officewith your Mason NetID.
  • Under “Accounts” on the navigation menu, click “Balances and Recent Transactions” for purchasing details.
